Bearing Press/Puller

As invaluable as an $8.00 skate tool is, spending the bucks for a real bearing tool is well worth it. Every good shop has one of these things fastened to a bench, but dont think of it as a luxury only for skate shops. If you frequently set up new decks or replace your bearings frequently, this tool will let you effortlessly do it right EVERY time.

How many times have you set a bearing by pressing it into place with a cheap skate tool? And how many times did the wheel wobble slightly until you put some more weight into it? Several, if youre new to the technique. If youre replacing bearings, how many skate tools have a reliable (aka - useable) bearing remover? Damn few. And who hasnt ruined a wheel trying the ever-popular “hammer & screwdriver combo” technique?

Setting bearings is a snap with FKDs press. Simply slide on the two bearings, one wheel and give the handle a firm squeeze. Done. Perfect rotation, no wobbles and no broken parts. Removing a bearing is just as easy - just use the other end of the press. Hook the bearing on the end, pull the handle and presto - your old bearings are out.

Owning a bearing press is more than just a cool-factor. Its about using the right tool for the job. On the other hand, your cool-factor will definitely rise when your pals see this baby bolted to your bench. It give off the notion of "I know what the hell Im doing" - even if ya dont.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS BEARING PRESS WILL NOT ACCOMODATE A 7mm BEARING. It only takes a standard 8mm skate bearing.

THIS BEARING PRESS DOES NOT ACCOMODATE ROLLER BLADE WHEELS OR INLINE WHEELS AND CERTAIN WHEELS THAT ARE BIGGER THAN A 65mm size.

How to use a skateboard bearing press?
Eric Muss-Barnes (Los Angeles) 1/29/2010 8:29 AM
This press works really well and is very solidly built. Before buying it, I looked all over the internet for information on presses and how they worked. I was shocked to discover how few exist. There are only about 3 bearing presses on the market (FKD, Powerdyne, Independent) which are easy to find. I found one other that was only on Australian websites. That's about it. So, it's odd that the market for this product is so tiny. I made a quick little YouTube video, showing folks how to operate the FKD press. Check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnJS6LvlAp4 Hopefully that will let you see how easy it is to use. If you are thinking of getting a press, do it. They are well worth the investment. Your bearings will be mounted perfectly even, everytime, with no damage to the bearing or the wheel and barely any effort or strength required to pop them in place. Bearing removal is just as quick and easy and again assures no damage to any of your components. Highly recommended.

Can this press be used for both the removal and replacement of bearings - Dan Loveland Writes - You can use this press to remove and insert your bearings into your skateboard wheels. This press will not work with longboard wheels.

ive been skating since 1985 and kept to my old ways of putting my bearing in by myself using either the axel or the bearing remove tool of a skate key. these two ways hold nothing on this press. removing a bearing is a snap, just hook a bearing at the to the opposite end of the press and pull down on the handle while holding the wheel. placing the bearings in the wheel is even more simpler. worth every cent. a must have for serious skaters who dont want to mess up their bearings and are sick of using axels or cheap tools to remove their bearings. stefan from burke virgina
