How It Shreds:
The Landyachtz 9 Two 5 longboard has been a powerhouse in the Landyachtz line up since it's initial debut. It is a fully symmetrical drop-through longboard with a little bit of rocker making it a full on freeriding shred machine. No matter which way you get on this board it is going to feel great! We actually really like the Landaychtz 9 Two 5 for slightly higher speed technical downhill riding as well. Being a drop-thru the 9 Two 5 slides out pretty easily when you want it to but unless you kick your wheels out hard enough it stays gripped up. It works great for courses and runs where you need to maintain a pretty high speed but also drift and slide a few main corners. The 9 Two 5 really helped open up the world of longboarding to new styles and new levels, with it in your quiver you can't go wrong!

Ahhh, the 9two5… it's business time. Everyone loves the Landyachtz 9two5, and for good reason! It is a freeriding machine from the mind of Landyachtz team rider, Mike McGoldrick. You might want to watch some of his videos if you haven't already. He was born to freeride, I don't think his legs would even function properly if he wasn't on a longboard at least once a day. This board has been perfect from day one, seriously. It was one of the first boards with rocker and gas pedals and paved the way for drop-through boards and their integration with freeriding. The overall deck length is 40.5 inches which after the mounting area still leaves you with a large standing platform to work with when riding. That larger standing platform on the 9two5 really lets you gain leverage over your board, get low, and sprawl out for sliding and drifting. Your feet are locked right in with the concave on the 9two5 and it is one of the main features that everyone loves about this board and it's freeriding potential. No matter what way you want to ride this board it is going to feel the same. It is perfectly symmetrical so go out and get your spin on.
You wondering what those gas pedals are going to do for you? They stemmed from snowboarding, ever notice that the toe ramps in your bindings curve upwards? They have the same effect in snowboarding as they do in longboarding. Gas pedals allow you to hang your toe or heel over the side of your board and have more precise and responsive turns. Where they really become effective if when you are sliding or drifting. They create a groove that holds your feet in place as it hangs off the edge of your board and that really lets you push into them pretty hard to kick those slides out. The Landyachtz 9two5 has a total of four gas pedals on it so whether you are riding switch or regular you can utilize the deck exactly same. It also helps your switch riding abilities quite a bit because of how insanely comfortable it is to ride when you are riding switch. Landyachtz dialed in the gas pedal idea early on and gas pedals have since earned their place in longboarding and have come to be known as a must-have feature for freeriding!
Rocker is a type of technology that stemmed from snowboarding as well, however, their purpose and function are very different from one another. In longboarding rocker has subtle influences on your riding that aren't too noticeable until you are riding a board without rocker again. The rocker in the Landyachtz 9two5 is also symmetrical to make the board remain a true-twin board. The deck basically curves up slightly starting in the middle of the board and going out towards the nose and tail. It does a few different things for you, one being lowering your center of gravity. It is a way to make your board just a little bit more stable without drastically changing the shape or feel of the deck. Another way that the rocker in the Landyachtz 9two5 helps is that it creates a natural pocket throughout the entire board that will help you stay locked into the board. It is also just kind of nice when riding switch because it gives you a feeling of direction even on a non-directional board. One similarity that rocker shares in both snowboarding and longboarding is that it creates a more natural way of standing that is ergonomically better for your body, in particular, for you knees. Skaters always end up with bad knees after all the many years of pushing and falling. It is just part of the love and sacrifice!
The 9two5 has been such a success that the mold that it is made in has gone to influence many other boards in not only the Landyachtz line up, but in other companies as well. If you are into freeriding fast and trying to take your skills to the next level then you have to check out a 9two5. Once you feel the concave under your feet and the way that the gas pedals give you that extra leverage you will know why the Landyachtz 9two5 has gained as much popularity and why you need to pick one up!
