Landyachtz Switchblade 40 Longboard Skateboard Deck - 2015

Quick Overview

The Switchblade 40 is one of the most popular boards in the world and for good reason as well. This board is a double drop design that has amazing concave to lock you in. The board starts with an aggressive radial concave that's completely race-ready and then tops it off with a high W concave to make sure you're locked in during all of your predrifts. This board is built with Landyachtz's maple core to ensure that you get maximum stiffness and durability. We all know that the Canadian Maple is the best. Landyachtz then slaps on a layer of sublimated fiberglass that not only protects the graphic of the board but it also prevents torsional flex, one of the major causes of speed wobbles. The Switchblade 40 is the leader in the industry for maximum stability. The Switchblade 40 has been killin' it in Landyachtz's lineup since 2011 and is sure to stay in the lineup for centuries to come. But of course if the Switchblade 40 seems too big for your style, check out the smaller versions of this amazing board, the Switchblade 38 and Switchblade 36.
Drop Thru shock pads, while not required to enjoy your ride, are a great way to remove unwanted vibrations from the road.
Used to keep the bolts on your board nice and tight and/or to assemble the board.
Lubricant and cleaning kits are used to keep the bearings in the wheels turning quickly and smoothly; if this is your first board, these upgrades are not necessary. Make sure you love to ride first!

A classic in the downhill world, the Landyachtz Switchblade 36 kills it. Suitable for all riding styles, whether it be downhill, freeride, or just general riding, this board does it all. The symmetrical shape suits all of your freeriding and sliding needs. No matter what direction your ride is, it'll ride the same. Being both drop down and drop through, the Switchblade 40 lowers your center of gravity immensely for the extra stability. But you can choose to mount it either on top for extra grip, or drop through for easy sliding. This board also comes in 3 different sizes to suit your style perfectly. The Switchblade 40 is the longest of the Switchblade series, giving you tons of stability. The 40 is the original size Switchblade and it will give you confidence to bomb any size hill, while still being fun for cruising and locking you in for freeriding.

Good All Rounder
Great board for downhill and freeride. Slides like a dream
i have had the 2013 version of this board for over a year and i loved it . it was heavy but i got a lot of down hilling on it. very strong, mine was ran over by a mini van and it had no damage
does anybody know if you get wheel bite with this board and calibers 70a president? cause if not im about to make a purchase.
Low to the ground makes cruising and pushing easy, i love it with paris 180's 50°.
Great freeride board, learned to slide on this thing, i own the 2012 model, mine was before they fiberglassed it and it's still bombproof, i've ridden it through snow, rain, sand, gravel, and mud, and i'm not a very light guy either.
Stable as a motherF while flying downhill
Stiff as bricks, i have bombsquad noseguards on it too.
I've easily put a few hundred miles on mine and it still works great
I love this board, i'll recomend this board 10 times out of 10.
Great board
This was my first longboard, and I really liked it. I had it setup with powerballs and paris trucks. It is incredibly stable and the micro drop combined with the drop through makes for a super easy to push longboard. The concave on the feet is great for locking in, but I felt it needed W concave, so 15$ later it did. I learned all my slides on this board, without getting wheelbite ever. Now I ride a omen sugar, which is more turny, and better for long slides and DH
Trust my review, I've owned this deck for over 2 years..Buy it.
I can honestly say that after riding this thing for more than 2 years with multiple setups, this board is an absolute joy to ride. It has taken a BRUTAL beating while learning and messing up multiple slides and slamming it into the curbs over and over again. The durability is admirable. I personally put some 3-D concave on this using stacked grip tape and a hair dryer and my feet have not slipped once. Not one time. Long standies are super fun and easy. Downhill is wonderful. I am 6'2" but have owned it at 5'11" when I first owned it and it was fine. If you are below 5'10" i would consider the 38" version.
Switchblade 40
I got this board a couple weeks ago and I'm loving it. It feels solid carving and bombing hills and its easy to slide on. But one complaint I have on this board is landyachtz doesn't stand there boards that great and my board fell on the top and chipped right behind the wheels were it comes out I'm disappointed about that but otherwise its a great board!
Great Board
Right now i have the 2011 model, one of the most solid longboards, for downhill. I have it set up on Zealous bearings, Otang i heats, Buck trucks.
This board is weird to get used to at first but after you get used to it it is great I was able to do a 180 first try on this board and it's a solid board.
Perfect Product
I bought this board at a local store, and I have to say... I love this board. Probably the best I've ever owned. Only complaint I have is that I can't go back to a higher board after this, it just feels too high up. Other than that, though, this board is great.

Sliding 4/5
Board Quality 5/5
Fun 4/5
Overall 4/5
Very strong board, a little heavy, but with some soft wheels i don't think you can get an better ride. I say go for the 38 or maybe 36 if you're under 6'
Great board~
The board is great for all around riding. just be aware of the bottom of the board. Since its Fiber glass, when it scratches it turns white. but other than that i love it.
Amazing Deck
I've had this deck for over a year now. I started out with this as my first board so for a while I just cruised on it. After I learned to do crappy glove slides, I started to really like it. But, i found it very hard to learn standups on. I recently got a peacemaker and had heelsides down very quickly because the lighter deck and i was running retro berts. After i had heelsides down, i've been riding this deck and loving it. If you have standups down, this is the best board out there.
180d its first try
super sturdy and controlable
After a lot of research and feedback from friends and youtube, i helped my friend buy his 2nd longboard( really his first because his actual first was a goldcoast pintail that got runover by a car the 2nd week lol). I set him up with this board, orange paris v2's and some abec 11 retro zigzags 86a. wen he got the board he assembled it with my help and we took it out and busted out a niiccccee coleman first try. (looking back idk if i would have chosen the same wheels). anyway the board locks your feet in like a snowboard and the symmetrical shape is great for freeriding. Overall one of the nastiest and sickest boards i have ever ridden. BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I order this
Does this board get wheel bite with 50 calibers and 70mm wheel? Other than that I am buggin to get this board
I have no words to describe how amazing this board is!
I got this board last year and it was amazing! the double drop platform made pushing no effort at all! the pockets kept you locked in, and it was very durable, but sadly, some ass ran it over and it snapped. If you are an experienced rider, or a first time one, this is the board for you!
Great Deck
I have the switchblade 40 from 2012 i learned all my first slides on it. This is a very stable and strong board i love the pockets for your feet it lets you push out a slide at pretty much any speed its very low to the ground if you decide to drop thru your trucks great for bombing hills its a little heavy but thats the price you pay for how strong it is youll never have to worry about it breaking
to the reviewer eric
have you tried pushing the mounting hardware through the holes on bottom, because it sounds like the grip tape is covering them, not that there arent any holes.
is it harder to slide cuz it is longer
is it harder to slide on cuz its longer
It was awesome while it lasted!
I got the 2012 switchblade 40 last year and it has been my favorite board out of the three that I have owned. Sadly though, if you are rough on it like I am it may crack on you. Like mine did last night... But other than that, as long as you are not too rough on it it should last a long time. Favorite board so far. Don't run into any walls or curbs though! Definitely would buy again, and think I might buy this deck again.
The new swithcblade is amazing
The new micro drop is a little more shallow than the older model, but i stay locked in on every slide. This board is perfect for sliding even if you're new to it or have been doing it for awhile.
i dont think eric understands griptape...
Nice 2013 artwork
Wow Landyachtz , this board is amazing! It's great for 180s and long stand up slides and I really love the new board artwork

really nice board. slide amazing. still like the smaller switchblade more though
I waited four days for this board and I was so excited and was crushed when I saw how it arrived. There is literally no holes to mount your trucks on there's holes under the deck but none on top. Guess ill have to wait another week to start riding this... :(
Love this board
I love this board it was different then any other board iv owned iv nevert been a fan of flexy boards I'm 190 and there is no flex at all
If you are wondering I'm running claibers 50* and freerides you will only get wheel bite if you run the supper lose
the board is amazing pockets lock you in and top mount it and its 10x better
Crazy stuf
It is a great board if your planing on sliding, bombing, freeriding ...
You wont get any wobbles and it lock your feet in so that you will never losse your grip in 360s or long stand up slides. The board is also a tank. Sorry for my english.
Super Dope Board!!!
The pockets are so awesome for keeping you locked in during slides and the board is really low. Great all around board!
This board is sick!
I've had this board for over a year now and I absolutely love it. It is the most stable board I've ever been on and it feels impossible to get speed wobbles. The concave is perfect for locking your feet in on slides or hard carves and it's so low to the ground so that when you push it feels like you're pushing off the ground. This board is sick!
Sickest board ever.
The micro drop keeps your feel locked in perfectly on all of your 180s nd switches. Nice and stable when you bomb hill. Best board I've ever had! Get it now if your looking for the ultimate free ride board.
