Wrist Guards
A wrist injury to a skateboarder is like the flu to an ordinary person, inevitable to happen. When you are flying through the air with your face pointed directly at the oncoming pavement, we tell you what, you’re gonna put your arms out there so fast to catch yourself before you break your face that you’re going to break your wrist instead. Probably multiple times too if you’re just like the other hundreds of thousands of other riders out there that refuse to stop after an injury.
Now, there are things you can do to prevent the flu like get shots and avoid sick people like the plague. In the same way, there are things you can do as a skateboarder to prevent wrist injury; never fall (ha!), never try anything (what?), wear a wrist guard and wear slide gloves that have wrist protection (yes!). Loaded slide glove freerides are great for protecting your wrists in falls. The choice is yours. But the choice should always be safety.
