Rider Bio
My name is Michael Adams and I am from Northern California. I grew up here and started longboarding when I turned 13 years old. Growing up in California has helped me shape my style of riding and has gotten me into racing in events and freeriding Berkeley and San Francisco. This interest started when I went to my first event just under a year ago now. That simple race got me inspired to find faster hills with more challenging lines which has allowed me be able to improve with the help of people I have met at events, along with skaters I have been skating with since the beginning. My favorite part of longboarding is the community that we are all a part of. It's great to be able to join a session of skaters who you have never seen before and skate with them. There isn't any hate and most people (who have skated long enough) are laid back and fun to talk to. I have been able to watch the scene grow from a small group of dedicated longboarders, to an ever-progressing group of younger skaters who are going bigger, skating faster, and creating more variations of tricks that have never been done before. My favorite style of riding would have to be either fast freeriding, or technical downhill. The thrill of going fast and being able to lose traction with the road at above 30mph is unforgettable and it's what I live for. In the future, I want to try and get into skating in IGSA races and some more well known freeride events in Canada, and eventually overseas. I'm stoked to be a part of this progression and am ready to keep progressing to stay current with whats going on today. All I know is that I am in for the ride of my life and I'm not going to resist anything that comes my way!

10 Questions

How did you get into wood-pushing?

I guess I started longboarding as one of those kids who was lurking youtube and found that fateful video: "Longboarders ... If you surf, watch this". Then I found loaded and bought the most expensive setup I have owned: the dervish, along with some nifty paris 180s and orange In-Heats. After that, I was hooked on progressing and increasing my skill and personal style.

Where is your favorite place to skate?

Either Hiller, Sideways runs, or Blacks Beach in SoCal. Pretty much anywhere I can go and pull big standies on, or get lots of runs in.

Who are your favorite skaters?

I have been inspired by many riders during the years I have been longboarding, but the top on my list would have to be Adam Colton for teaching me how to cross step and getting me into longboarding, James Kelly for his smooth style and blinding speed, and the pros that I have been able to skate with in Berkeley including Liam Morgan along with Miles and Byron Essert.

Between a bear, dragon, and a shark, which one would you fight and why?

A Dragon because if I beat it up, I would have the dopest ride to the top of the hill, (and no traffic).

What is your current board setup?

I am riding a DB Longboards Stalker on Caliber 44's and Sector 9 70mm 78a ghost thane wheels.

What is your favorite food?

I love me a good pizza! But I will normally be down for whatever's at the bottom of the hill after a long day.

Who are your current sponsors?

Shoutout to DB Longboards, Volk Apparel, and of course Daddies Board Shop!

What is your favorite trick?

Big standies! Switch, regular, toeside, heelside, anything big is fun.

Why do you like to ride for Daddies Board Shop?

Daddies has the fastest shipping, best pricing, and friendliest people. And they never screw up orders, which is dope.

What are your thoughts on zombies?

Never tried the wheels, but like Zombie Zombies are gnarly. One second they're dead, the next you gotta get up and run (or skate) for your life!
