Here at Daddies, we have a variety of Tech Fleece like hoodies and lightweight jackets that are protected by water resistant technology most commonly known as DWR (Durable Water Repellent). DWR is a fluoropolymer that’s applied to fabric to prevent saturation. When liquid comes in contact with the treated fabric, you can literally watch it bead up and roll away. This technology is applied to many water resistant garments including GORE-TEX and other technical forms of outerwear, but in the last couple years, many snowboard brands started using DWR coatings on everyday garments. Even though we do carry technical outerwear with DWR coatings, our Tech Fleece Category will focus on less technical articles of clothing.
DWR coated hoodies, flannels, jackets and t-shirts, are perfect for those warmer days when you want to ditch your heavy jacket. You can take all the spills your want without collecting 5 pounds of water on your sleeves and backside. DWR garments also work great off the slopes when hanging out in the snow or rain. Even though DWR is super rad, all good things come to an end. A DWR coating is good for about 20 washes before it wears off. Don’t worry though; you can re-apply it yourself with a spray made by Nikwax. Side Note: DWR will not disrupt the softness of your hoodie or flannel, so snuggle up and stay dry.
