DETAILS

The Volante Serrata Longboard Wheels are pretty magical. We aren’t sure if Volante named them after marine gastropod mollusks of the Marginellidae family or if they are referencing the Latin word for serrated, “saw-like.” Signs are pointing more towards “saw-like” because these wheels cut up the hills! They have super sharp lips for digging into the asphalt and concrete when you need to grip around corners. The Volante Serrata wheels come in the same 82a formula that everyone loved in the Volante Checkers. It is a smooth formula that is consistent and has a nice even wear. When you throw that formula into a hard-lipped wheel you get a crazy freeride wheel or downhill wheel for heavier riders. The Volante Serrata wheels have a large vented core. This creates a dense hold around the bearing which will give it a faster roll speed. The vents help reduce weight and actually work well for wicking water away from the bearing if you catch yourself riding in the rain. We are incredibly pleased with the Serrata and can’t wait to see what Volante does in the future!

If the board is to be used for all-around riding or getting around town, spacers are NOT needed. Spacers sit between the bearings in the wheel and provide additional stability for more advanced riding.
Used to keep the bolts on your board nice and tight and/or to assemble the board.
Lubricant and cleaning kits are used to keep the bearings in the wheels turning quickly and smoothly; if this is your first board, these upgrades are not necessary. Make sure you love to ride first!

You hear a odd velco sound when you roll at high speeds almost as if its peeling its contact patch off the road with everyone rotation. Having said that, I've never slid the Serratas for the simple reason that this set is dedicated to high speed ride quality. Waldo and I have thrown these 82a wheels into some of the most technical roads in our area, always pushing the limits on our riding styles with the urethane and shape of the Volante Serratas. A most have for all your downhill runs.

The Volante Serrata's are an awesome wheel for downhill riders as well as freeriders. It's a fast wheel that likes to maintain it's shape and it's still fast even once the mold release has been broken in. I highly recommend the Volante Serratas' for those of you looking to go fast, get sideways or even to commute because they have a very nice roll speed. The slides are predictable and they don't ice out. Do yourself a favor and get a set for downhill madness as well as sliding like you've never slid before. It's always nice to see a do it all kind of wheel. There are very few on the market and this is by the best do it all wheel on the market in my opinion. Get SOME!!!
