It's Monday morning and another MFOS is in the books! Yesterday they had sunny not too hot weather with some downhill winds. And the racing was tight as always on this very long 2.2 mile hill. Douglas Dalua from Brazil was the fastest man of the day and the best racer holding off 2 time defending champ Canadian Patrick Switzer who took 2nd. Max Ballesteros also from Brazil took 3rd with Portland native and Daddies rider Alex Tongue close behind for 4th. So stoked to see Alex in the finals again at Maryhill, he took 3rd in 2012. For the ladies defending champ Elena Corrigall took 1st again for the second time in a row. And Daddies girl Amanda Powell took 2nd with Portland rider Alisha Fillback 3rd. This is one of the hardest races to compete in with so many fast riders these days filling out the top qualifying times. My best time of 3:08 would have put me in between 14th-20th place overall for the fastest times this year. So that just shows you how many riders per second there are with the top time of 3:05 held by the top 4 qualifiers. Hopefully I'll be back next year as my injury is expected to be healed long before next years MFOS. Congrats to all the riders and to event organizer John Ozman for pulling it off again! Sanctioning body IDF has hosted this event for the 2nd year in a row now and seems to be doing a great job. Hopefully someday they can get more cameras on the course and stream the event live like some other downhill races like the Whistler Longboard Festival happening next weekend...
